Victorian agent Ash Driscoll, Stawell, has claimed the inaugural AuctionsPlus Young Guns award during the annual awards evening in North Sydney recently.
The Rodwells and Company D and K Harrington agent outpaced a line-up of five finalist to take the prize.
AuctionsPlus chief executive Angus Street said when the company put out the call for young assessors there were 50 nominations.
"About 20 of those turned up for a workshop at Dubbo and from there we had five award finalist," Mr Street said.
He said the workshop focused on strategies for effective communication, negotiation, marketing and people management.
"We recognise that these people are the future of agency and assessing and we want to help give them the skills to be good agents," Mr Street said.
Emma Northey, Quade Moncrieff Livestock and Property, West Wyalong, was the Young Guns runner-up.
A number of other awards were also presented during the evening.
The top sheep throughput agency went to Russell Hiscox and Chris Clemson from Clemson Hiscox and Company, Walgett, while the top cattle throughput agency was Landmark Boultons, Walcha, with Simon Newton, Miles Archdale, Mat Larkings and Bruce Rutherford.
The top cattle and sheep combined throughput agency was Riverina Livestock Agents, Wagga Wagga.
Top sheep throughput assessor went to Peter Prosser, Prosser Hutton, Mungindi, while the top cattle throughput assessor was Sam Ditchfield of SJ Livestock Marketing, Armidale.
