Good falls of patchy rain on the Northern Tablelands last week have set the rivers running on both sides of the Great Divide.
Thunderstorms bringing rain and hail from From Armidale to Stanthorpe have painted parts of the landscape green, following on from earlier moisture. Deepwater got 58mm. Tenterfield received 22mm. Paddocks destocked early have come back the quickest.
Guyra township got 27mm for the week but nothing the day Black Mountain received 92mm. Maybole recorded the top of 116mm. At Gowan Brae, on the way to Wards Mistake, more than 88mm fell for the week.
As a result the Gara River sent a small cascade of water over the falls at the head of the Macleay, where flats at Toorooka recorded a visible inundation.over the weekend.
On the western side water trickled down Moredun Creek to where it meets the Gwyder.
Malpas dam, which stores Armidale's drinking water, has yet to show any rise.
