'A beautiful school, with the biggest heart' is how 2019 boarders' captain Meghan Newman, Alice Creek, near Kingaroy, described her school when reflecting on her time as a Clayfield College boarder.
A school spokesman said Clayfield's big heart creates a place of belonging for young women, where fellow boarders and boarding staff become an extension of their family unit.
"It is because of this nurturing environment that generations of rural families have entrusted the Clayfield College boarding house to prepare their daughters for an ever-changing world," the spokesman said.
"One such example is Meghan, whose mother, Annette Newman (Wagner), boarded at Clayfield in 1984.
"Although the school's connectedness is what makes Clayfield so special, it is also a place of academic rigour and extracurricular opportunities.
"The holistic education offered inspires young women to unlock their passions, participate broadly, and be connected to their community."
Meghan and her parents knew boarding was the best alternative.
"Boarding is the better alternative for many country families," Meghan said.
"This is something my parents knew and despite the financial struggles experienced with sending three kids.
"They could always justify it when considering the wealth of opportunities offered to us."
