HEREFORDS Northern NSW Youth Group hosted their annual heifer show from January 16 to 19 at Inverell with 60 participants in attendance.
Local competitor Beau White of Inverell had another successful show winning an array of ribbons and championships in his fourth time competing at the event.
Kicking off his weekend of wins was the cattle classes where he exhibited the junior and grand champion heifer, as well as the champion cow and calf, under judge Hannah Gibb of AACo, Brisbane, who is originally from New Zealand.
Mountain Valley Prudence Q009 was the 10-month-old heifer, sired Injemira Anzac H006, that was unstoppable among the hotly contested junior section, winning junior and then going further to take the top-title of the show.
Mr White's champion cow and calf was Mountain Valley Favourite M091 with her four-month-old bull calf at side.
Champion intermediate heifer went to The Ranch Tilly P044, exhibited by Leisl Cooper of Tamworth, and champion bull went to Eclipse Optimus Prime Q002 shown by Emily Taylor, Tamworth.
Bronwyn Neilsen of Calrossy Anglican School, Tamworth, cast her eye over the talented participants throughout the paraders competition, selecting Mr White as her senior and grand champion parader.
He battled it out against the other age division champions Isla McIndoe (pee wee), Riley Bacon (junior), and Emily Taylor (intermediate) for the win.
Mr White said this year was probably the best he had done in the cattle classes, but it could not compare to his 2019 individual campaign.
"Last year I won senior champion in every competition," he said. "For the past four years I have been trying to win grand champion parader, so it's good to finally do it."
In the junior judging section, officiated by Tyson Will, Delungra, senior competitor Aleacea Nixon of Mikey Mouse Herefords, Dulacca, Qld, was the grand champion judge.
Pee wee champion was Elsa Mesaros, junior champion was Riley Bacon. Emily Taylor won intermediate champion judge with Jacinta Cooper was senior champion.
Senior and grand champion herdsman was awarded to Paul Murphy, Tamworth, with other championships awarded to Logan Scott (pee wee), Riley Bacon (junior) and Lachlan Bacon (intermediate).
In the special awards section, 15-year-old Emily Taylor was named the overall Hereford breed ambassador and most potential breeder was presented to Lachlan Bacon, Qld.
Best presented stall went to the team from Reevesdale Herefords, Gum Flat.
