This year the Go Troppo theme for the Cowra Cup meeting was truly authentic when the last race of the day was delayed for over an hour due to a much celebrated afternoon downpour.
The local home town heroes, Zarhron and Mathew Cahill were pipped at the post by the Gulgong, David Smith-trained Distinctive Look in their attempt to win the Breakout River Meats Cowra Japan Cup for the fifth time.
The feature race, the Cowra Lamb Cowra Cup was won by the Mudgee, Cheryl Crockett-trained Mackellar's Love and was ridden by Towrang-based jockey Richard Bensley.
It was also a Mudgee victory in the fashion stakes, with the title of best tropically dressed lady going to Michelle Myers while the Dhu family, Trevor, Oliver and Emilie, from Canberra, were named the best tropically dressed gent, boy and girl.
