NORTH American out-cross genetics have topped the Red Angus show at the Royal Canberra Show, with a rising 11-month-old bull calf snagging the supreme title.
Black Diamond 3B Quack It Q501 exhibited by Christie Fuller of Black Diamond Angus, Cowra, was the junior and grand champion bull that went on to be supreme exhibit among the seven head on show.
The one and only son of Red Double B 6M Autograph 2D and Red Blairs Bonita 3B female in Australia, he was described as a bull with a lot of potential.
Judge Tim Reid of JTR Cattle, Jenross, Rosyln, said despite being a young bull he shows the muscle, strength and stretch throughout that he looks for.
"He is very sirey and has a lot of muscle and stretch through the front end," Mr Reid said. "He gets out there and moves, and shows a lot of potential to be a great sire."
Black Diamond Angus principal Christie Fuller, Cowra, said she purchased the embryos to create this calf out of the Genetics Focus 2017 sale, featuring genetics from Six Mile Red Angus and Blairs.Ag Cattle Company both of Canada.
"He won't be at Sydney, but will go through to he Melbourne Red Angus feature show in 2020," Ms Fuller said.
Quack It Q501 got around Ms Fuller's other exhibit, Black Diamond Miss Hollywood Q500 who was the junior and grand champion female.
Co-owned by Mt Charlie Red Angus of Riddells Creek, Vic, the 12-month-old heifer was by new North American sire Red Lazy MC Hollywood 127C and out of the Black Diamond 35X Mistress M501 female that has had a number of show successes throughout her career.
"She is the oldest Hollywood calf in Australia, and therefore the first to be shown," Ms Fuller said.
"Mt Charlie purchased Mistress M501 and her heifer calf at the time (this heifer) last year."
Miss Hollwood Q500 was the calf-at-foot when Mistress M501 was the grand champion female and supreme exhibit of the 2019 Royal Melbourne Show.
"The cow is retired, but this heifer will go through to the feature show in Melbourne," she said.
With six head of Red Angus cattle entered, numbers were consistent with last year however Black Diamond stud was a new entrant.
