A full clearance of the 87 bulls on offer was a great result for Marc Greening and his family, Injemira Beef Genetics, Book Book at their 49th annual production sale on Tuesday.
With a top price of $36,000 and a sale average of $8919, he was quite overcome by the support his genetic program received.
"It was an extremely strong sale result and a humbling experience, we even sold a number of private sale bulls post sale to fill orders for clients" he said.
"There was a great spread of clients with lots of different geographic locations and a lot of new clients to the Injemira program."
Sale highlights included 15 sons of new Injemira sire, Ravensdale Wildfire, grossing $205,000 for an average of $13,666.
It was also a 22-month-old son of this highly sought after Wildfire sire that drew the top price honours.
Injemira Wildfire P021 weighed 846kg with a scrotal measurement of 40cm was bought by long term clients David and Michelle Elsom, Macarthur, Victoria.
The bull was bought for use in the couple's 230 commercial female herd, but Mrs Elsom thought he might even be used in their daughter's Emigrace Poll Hereford stud.
The bull's estimated breeding values included 21 for milk, 3.7 for birthweight, 3.9 for eye muscle area and 0.4 for intramuscular fat.
Mrs Elsom said they were attracted to the bull for his very good temperament, low birthweight and good milk figures.
"He is also homozygous poll and he was recommended by Marc as being a very good bull for our breeding aspirations," she said.
"We want to have a pure poll herd for the safety and he ticks all the boxes for our weaner breeding program where we offer weaners at the Hamilton sales."
Mr and Mrs Elsom also bought a second sire prospect for $16,000.
Hunter Lakes Poll Herefords, Hunter Valley, added to their genetic strength when they paid $34,000 for Injemira Techno P300, a 710kg son of Koanui Techno.
His figures included 4.8 for birthweight, 22 for milk, and 4.9 EMA plus a 39cm scrotal measurement.
Other great sales included $26,000 for Injemira Wildfire P042 bought through AuctionsPlus to Jarrah Cattle Co, Bannana, Queensland, $24,000 paid for Injemira Kickstart P093 by Waterloo Ag, Mt Gambier, South Australia and $22,000 paid by Woakwine Station, Beachport, SA for Injemira Wildfire P371.
That bull was included in the draft of four bulls selected by Woakwine Station for an average of $13,000, which will form the basis of a commercial bull breeding program for use in their recently purchased Northern Territory station, Mt Skinner.
Other volume buyers included new client Willow Wood Nominees, Barham who selected three bulls for a $5667 average, Belgrave Pastoral Co, Mumbannar, Vic who took three bulls home for a $5334 average and Jarrahwood Pastoral Co, Yarra Junction, who selected a draft of three bulls for a $4334 average.
Local buyers included Woomargama Station, Woomargama who bought two for a $10,000 average, R.J and R.J Webb, Tumut who selected one at $15,000 and Ravensdale Poll Herefords, Holbrook who paid $14,000 for a high indexing son of Injemira Fortune.
The sale was settled by Elders, Holbrook in conjunction with Nutrien Livestock, Wangaratta with guest auctioneer Paul Dooley.
