The 2020 Riverina Redneck Rally in support of the Riverina charity Country Hope is in the final stages of preparation before heading off to destinations unknown, but the organisors are still calling out for sponsorship support.
"It's all about kids," rally organiser Gavin Gilbert said.
"Country Hope supports families with children who are diagnosed with cancer or other life threatening illnesses and offers a regional service that ensures local children and their families are able to benefit from ongoing practical, financial and emotional support, and have the opportunity to build special freindships and bonds with other local children, families, carers and medical staff."
Among the teams intent on doing their part in the annual rally which raises funds for childrens health care are two from Coolamon.
Team 'YOBB', Ricky Hard and Dwight Sinclair and team 'DESPARADO' Jason Hoey and Shane Bullock have been busy raising funds for the past nine months to meet the target of $275,000 set for the 2020 rally.
"That would take the figure raised to one million dollars through the four years of the rally," Mr Bullock said.
"So far the 83 teams entered have raised $395,000 which is a monumental effort."
The countdown for the rally progresses as it will leave the Riverina for destinations around NSW on 1 March and returning 6 March.
"Participants only know where the rally starts and finishes," Mr Bullock said.
"The in-between is an adventure partly divulged to the group each morning and makes for a week of story making, challenges and building of friendships."
The Redneck Rally was originally conceived by Gavin and Tammy Gilbert four years ago and has grown each year after a fantastic initial success and is now the biggest single fundraiser for Country Hope each year.
"Remember," Shane Bullock said.
"I's all about the kids!"
