Cowra Murray Grey breeders Garry and Annie Haines, Dangarra stud, were brought to tears after claiming the supreme exhibit title in the Murray Grey judging in Canberra on Saturday.
The pair secured the top award with their senior and grand champion female, Errowanbang Biddy M76, who climbed up the awards tier after claiming reserve senior champion last year without a calf.
The rising four-year-old by Errowanbang Hattrick and out of a personal favorite female in Andoyaskye Biddy G16 who dates back to former Melbourne Royal grand champion, Jundarra Basil B1 was shown with a two-month-old heifer, Errowanbang Biddy Q3, by Glenliam Nullarbor.
Judge Sam Hunter, Yass, was impressed by the wedge shaped female which he believed had one of the best udders on a beef female.
She had a lot of muscle, capacity through the mid section and refinement in the front, he said.
Speaking to The Land after the announcement, Mr Haines was brought to tears.
The manager of Errowanbang stud for 12 years purchased the female after they opted to move away from showing and focus on a commercial operation.
"The fact that we can still show means a lot," Ms Haines said.
"We are not going to Sydney this year. We are feeding all the cattle at home, (the rain) has been going all around us," Mr Haines added.
The Haines dominated the female judging with their son, Declain Haines, owning the junior champion female in Dangarra Ladasha P4.
Bemboka breeder Stephen Robertson of Bennooka Park stud has exhibited at the Royal Canberra Show for about 45 years and went home with the senior and grand champion bull title with the 21-month-old Bennooka Park Pride and Joy.
The bull was by consistent breeder Yamba G151 and out of the reserve senior champion female, Bennooka Park Barbara G18, who he was shown alongside last year as a 465 kilogram calf and together won four supreme titles.
Mr Robertson said with the Murray Grey National Sale postponed this year he would retain the bull for another year.
Recent bushfires had got within 300 metres of the boundary fence to his 350 acre property and he had redistributed much of the hay he had ordered in drought to his neighbours.
When judging the bull, Mr Hunter appreciated the powerful type and well muscled bull that he commended for being shown in his genuine state.
The junior champion bull title was awarded to Thologolong Quatum Leap Elation by Thologolong Elation SS M2 and out of Thologolong Kristy SS V18 exhibited by Gina and Peter Sutherland, Victoria.
