A 28-month-old Australian Lowline bull proved too hard to crack in the strong showing of 25 head at the Royal Canberra Show.
Victorian exhibitor Matt Cooney of Tallygaroopna claimed back-to-back supreme exhibit titles when Holbrook-based judge Glenn Trout handed the award to last year's junior champion bull, Cann Valley Nut Cracker.
The senior and grand champion bull was by Cann Valley Count Lucifer whose mother, Rotherwood Glamour Girl, was a seven time supreme champion winner, and out of Rotherwood Hula Girl, one of Mr Cooney's matriarch lines.
Currently running 25 head, Mr Cooney was introduced to the breed through his aunty's love for Lowlines and has now established himself as a leading breeder.
He will take seven head to the Sydney Royal next month, including Nut Cracker, before semen is collected and he is likely sold.
"He has always been ahead of the others," Mr Cooney said of last year's Sydney Royal grand champion bull.
Judge Glenn Trout was impressed by the bull's balance in both his front and back ends.
For a bull that stood on a moderate frame, he had a lot of meat and was a credit to the breed, Mr Trout added.
"I really appreciate the depth of flank and the volume and capacity," he said.
Mr Cooney was also awarded reserve junior champion female with Cann Valley Quill and reserve senior champion female with Cann Valley Lunar Eclipse who was unable to overcome the senior champion female Whitby Farm L.C.
The rising four-year-old cow was paraded alongside her impressive five-month-old bull calf by Whitby Farm P.T named Whitby Farm N.V, and went on to be named grand champion female.
Owner Ken Lorains, Zeerust, Victoria, only halter broke the winning female from his herd of 30 breeders in November.
"She was always a nice cow and I sort of overlooked her until she was four so I brought her in and broke her in," he said.
Her mother, Whitby Farm Ruby, was the first female they ever showed and went on to win a big class at the breed's 2010 feature show in Sydney.
The junior champion female, Muscateer Valley Bree, exhibited by Jessica Muscat, Oakville, was admired by Mr Trout for her "look at me attitude".
The 16-month-old was by Trungley Nugget and out of Wigram Buttercup.
The junior champion bull was 17-month-old Tarrawarra Harry, by Tarrawarra Eclipse and out of Tarrawarra Cleo, and exhibited by Jacquelynn Feagan, Tarrawarra.
