Resilience and community are the theme for the 76th annual Dalgety Show.
It has been a hard slog for so many in the Snowy Monaro surrounded for months by fire and drought - it has certainly been a testing time for all.
As the show nears on Sunday, March 8, it is plain to see how much the community needs and relies on the show as a way of reconnecting with people, enjoying a day out with family and friends and for a few hours, getting a chance to relax and enjoy everything that a country show puts on.
"It has again been a very busy lead up to our show," a committee spokesman said.
"Our pavilion is out of action but the committee has rallied and will be showing every section that would normally be within the Charlie Roberson Pavilion - albeit in a few different spots.
"This year we have the pleasure of welcoming Don Elgin as our show opener and they don't come any livelier than this boy from the bush.
"Don represented Australia in athletics at four World Championships, three Paralympic Games, two World Cups and a Commonwealth Games.
"He was raised in the NSW town of Tocumwal. Being born without the lower portion of his left leg was no barrier for this boy who would make his first Australian team at 18 years of age, become a World Champion and - a staggering 20 years later - represent Australia at the Commonwealth Games.
"Our day gets underway at 7.30am with the commencement of the Monaro Yard Dog Championships, always a popular way to start the show.
"We welcome all to enjoy the traditional show day events and pavilion exhibits, check out our popular cattle, sheep and poultry exhibitions, browse our trade exhibitors, enjoy the wonderful food outlets and sit down for a few hours and watch the horse events in the main arena."
