RAIN attracted one of the largest crowds to Dubbo saleyards last Friday when 530 head were penned at the Dubbo store cattle sale.
Buyer support was mainly local with interest from the Central Tablelands
With the crowd came outstanding prices for the quality and well-conditioned yarding, especially for younger cattle with weaner steers selling from $455 to to $1310 for very young Angus in good condition.
Dollar value for weaner steer sales was between 360 cents a kilogram to 631c/kg.
Yearling steers sold from $1020 to 1280/head.
Heifers were in demand with the 220 head making an average $570/hd for weights up to 200kg while 280kg to 330kg sold up to $1255/hd for a draft of Santa Gertrudis according to MLA's Livestock Reporting Service.
A pen of Charolais heifers made $1250 or 342c/kg.
Charolais-cross cows with calves at foot sold at $2100 a unit while Angus cows with large weaner calves at foot made a top price at $2490 a unit.
PTIC cows made from $1530 to $1690 a head.
