Coronavirus crisis: Age, sex of people testing positive in NSW

When these statistics were released the number of people with COVID-19 in NSW has jumped to 171, with more females (88) than males (83) contracting the virus.

The 30-40 age group leads the way for confirmed cases with 42 people aged in that category diagnosed with COVID-19, NSW Health data released on Monday afternoon shows.

Next was people aged 50-60 years with 30 people testing positive, followed by 40-50 years olds with 28 positive cases.

For older people, so far there have been just 12 people aged 70 years or older who have received a positive diagnosis.

While nobody aged under 10 has contracted coronavirus in NSW.

Of those who tested positive, 67 cases were acquired overseas, with another 44 through contact of a confirmed case, 43 are under investigation and 17 are unknown.

NSW Health is alerting passengers who were close contacts on the following flights to monitor for symptoms, and contact their GP, but call ahead first, or call healthdirect on 1800 022 222 should they become unwell.

Following confirmation of a case, NSW Health is asking that as a precaution, anyone who visited Oakvale Winery, Pokolbin NSW, between March 4 and 13 March should be alert for fever or respiratory symptoms for 14 days after their visit and practise social distancing.

If they develop any of these symptoms, they should contact their GP, but call ahead first, or call Healthdirect on 1800 022 222 should they become unwell. There is no ongoing risk for visitors to Oakvale Wines.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, runny nose or shortness of breath.
