A South Coast steer competition will go ahead in May with both hoof and hook judging results to be broadcast live on social media.
The South Coast Beef School Steer Spectacular, which usually attracts up to 300 students, will this year only incorporate a hoof and hook competition with all student activities cancelled.
Instead, students and teachers will be able to join a Facebook live stream of the hoof judging at Milton District Meats on May 7 followed by the carcase judging presentation on May 9.
Only South Coast Beef stewards and the judge will be in attendance for the event.
The traditional oral school report presentation will be replaced with a single page executive summary of the school's project. South Coast Beef media officer David King said there were 26 steers entered from 13 schools.
"There are so many keen students and teachers that just want to go with it," he said.
"There are a few left over from the Royal that have come our way for this event."
