INDEPENDENT agencies from all corners of the State were strong supporters of last Wednesday's Dunedoo store sale of 1900 head.
Prices reached up to $2935 for cow/calf units in what was described as a record yarding for store sales at the centre conducted by Milling Stuart, Dunedoo, in conjunction with Dubbo agents PT Lord Dakin and Associates.
Milling Stuart auctioneer Jamie Stuart, said there was strong interest in the females, particularly PTIC pens.
Dakin's auctioneer Mark Garland said it was a strong sale from start to finish.
"There were more weaner cattle through the yarding this time but also a good line up of cows and cow/calf units," he said.
A pen of 17 Angus yearling steers topped the section at $1380 each, sold for the Wisbey family's Botobolar Pastoral Company, Mudgee, to a local buyer. Dunedoo vendors Birkalla Partnership topped the weaner steer market with Santa Gertrudis steers at $1220/hd and then $1200 for black steers. The bulk of the weaner steers made from $900 to $1150.
Best of heifers were yearling Angus making $1330/hd. The better weaner heifers sold from $950 to $1200/hd while the lighter heifers $600 to $900/hd.
The best of the cows were a line of six to seven-year-old Angus cows, PTIC to an Angus bull for an August calving, from western NSW which sold at $2410/hd.
Cows with calves were hotly contested reaching to $2935/unit for a run of crossbred cows with sappy calves at foot. Gelbvieh cows and calves made $2900/unit.
