It is easy to look at a company at face value with the appearance of being Australian.
But if you dig a little deeper, not all companies are actually Australian owned.
Many companies which used to be Australian owned, are now owned by offshore companies.
Clipex was founded on the Olsson family farm in Goulburn, NSW, in 2007 and to this day is still owned and operated by them with the head office now in Brisbane, QLD.
In 2009, the Olsson family set up the Australian owned manufacturing plant in Ningbo, China, with founder Ashley Olsson residing there for the last 10 years, controlling and managing.
"We are employing our own staff and distributing on a global level to Clipex Australia, Clipex South America, Clipex Ireland and others," a Clipex spokesman said.
"Some other companies may have a joint venture manufacturing facility overseas, which means they do not wholly own the manufacturing facility but essentially share it.
"Others simply source their product from a dedicated overseas supplier.
"Clipex Australia is passionate about supporting Australians and Aussie jobs and is proud to be one of the few Australian owned family companies that is completely vertically integrated, employing over 65 staff across all of Australia in more than eight store locations."
Clipex support and sponsor more than 50 local initiatives throughout regional communities yearly and bring work to transport, printing, communication, marketing, IT, development and engineering businesses in regional and rural towns.
"From design concepts, engineered solutions, owned and controlled manufacturing lines, our friendly sales and servicing reps right through to installation on farm, Clipex is able to provide you some of the world's best sheep and cattle innovations," the spokesman said.
"We have our own local store network, our own marketing teams and our own installation teams in-house."
For decades Australians have bought fence posts from rural retail outlets, but there are a number of obvious concerns buying through that channel.
"We believe there has been a serious lack of innovation in the fencing industry, in part because companies have been afraid to implement technology and therefore do not expand and grow in innovation," the spokesman said.
"We innovated, developed and grew with the technology, giving us products like the Clipex fence posts, what are now being copied with a seriously inferior 'paperclip post' which have now plagued the Australian market.
"We believe businesses should remain in Australia and be Australian owned."
