It was a smaller yarding of 1207 cattle at the Wodonga saleyards on Thursday, with steers making up to $1780 per head and 520 cents per kilogram.
Michael Unthank of Brian Unthank Rural said it was a very strong sale once again.
"The quality was just as good, the cattle probably lacked a little bit of the finish or bloom of a fortnight ago with a couple of weeks of pretty ordinary weather in the area," Mr Unthank said.
The best cows and calves of the day made $2940 for five Angus first calvers with four month calves at foot offered by Sparcorp Mansfield, Mansfield, Victoria.
Hunters Hill, Corryong, Vic offered a pen of 12 Angus cows with two to three month-old calves at foot which made $2750, selling to Nutrien Albury.
J and L Borsi, Rosewhite, Vic sold 10 pregnancy-tested-in-calf Angus cows weighing an average 598kg for $1730.
Mr Unthank said feeder weight steers, weighing around 400kg, made from 380c/kg to 420c/kg.
The top price for steers per head was for 12 Herefords weighing 438kg offered by Bowler Station.
TA and JR Waller, Weeragee, Vic sold 16 Angus steers, Ardrossan blood, weighing 393kg for $1665.
Mr Unthank said there was a good run of weaner cattle on offer, all under 300kg making between 450c/kg and 520c/kg.
"So equally as good as what's been about for the last fortnight or month, and that went right through the blacks, Herefords and Euro steers," Mr Unthank said.
Willawong Pastoral Company, Tallangatta, Vic sold 13 Charolais cross Angus steers weighing 283kg, for $1360 and six Angus steers, weighing 290kg for $1230.
CADC Investments, Jindera sold a line of 76 Angus steers with Lawson blood. The top pen of 26 weighing 326kg sold for $1470, a second pen of 28 weighing 281kg sold for $1400.
Maxjem Pty Ltd, Benalla, Vic sold 12 Angus cross steers, weighing 225kg for 529c/kg, returning $1190.
Yeramba Pastoral Company, Tallangatta, Vic sold 17 Charolais steers weighing 288kg for $1350 and 14 weighing 242kg for $1215.
Mr Unthank said the heifers also sold well, 300kg and above all making up to 420c/kg to 430c/kg, and an odd pen making up to 450c/kg.
"There was probably not as many buyers about for those lighter heifers but they're still making up to 380c/kg to 400c/kg," Mr Unthank said.
Casagrande Pty Ltd sold six Angus cross heifers, ave 432kg, for $1600.
HL Masters, Corryong, Vic sold 38 Raff Angus and Llandarlo blood Angus heifers, weighing 338kg, for $1380.
Willawong Pastoral, Tallangatta, Vic also sold 17 Charolais cross Angus heifers, 267kg, for $1210.
Mr Unthank said all the usual buyers were present at the sale.
"I think there were a few of the local farmers who have wanted to spend a bit of money before the end of the year, I think they've hooked in and got a few," Mr Unthank said.
