Declining female numbers limited demand at the 31st Shorthorn Spring Fling bull sale at Tamworth on Thursday.

The multi vendor sale reached a top of $10,000 with Bungulla Perone P98 selling to Bill WIlmott, Wilmott Pastoral, Blackville, $3000 above last years sale top.

The fourth place British bull in ACM Sire Shootout , Bungulla Pac-Man P79,sold for $7000 to Rob and Cindy Fitzgerald of Mullaley who will use the bull over their commercial, self replacing Shorthorn herd and across Angus females.

Mr Fitzgerald hasn't purchased a cow in over 45 years, only buying in new genetics through his bulls.

The 30 bulls sold for an average of $5,567 and a clearance of 70 per cent.

With 44 registered bidders in attendance bulls sold to the top of New South Wales with one bull making his way into Queensland on the auction plus platform.

Buyers who purchased two bulls included Winnabri Partnership, Trangie, Lyon family, Ellenborough, The Ponds Farming, Dorrigo, WG Duffy, Quirindi, and A Jones, Kalva.

Bungulla Shorthorns of Manilla, topped the sale, selling all ten bulls on offer for an average of $6,400.

Vendor Pete Capel was very pleased with the result, with many purchasers in drought recovery with limited females and funds.

Sale was conducted by Elders Tamworth with Brian Kennedy the auctioneer.
