YAMBA Angus bulls sold to a $12,000 top during their inaugural online sale on August 5, with the top sire secured by repeat buyers Mountain Valley Poll Hereford and Angus stud of Coolatai.
Sired by Te Mania Emperor E343 and from Kansas Millicent J102, the rising16-month-old bull weighed 666 kilograms with a 39 centimetre scrotal circumference and measurements of seven millimetres for both rib and rump fats, 106 sq cm eye muscle area (EMA) and 6.2pc intramuscular fat (IMF).
Overall 22 bulls sold of the 34 catalogued to result in a 65 per cent clearance and $5568 average. Another four have sold since.
Run solely online, Yamba Angus hosted an open day weekend in the lead up to the sale which went extremely well according to stud principal Brian Powell.
"Given the situation we are happy with how it went," Mr Powell said. "Previously we sold private treaty during open days, this was our first online sale with many repeat buyers from the Riverina, Victoria and when we used to be part of the New England Angus Breeders' sale."
Yamba Query Q6 was the second top-priced bull sold to D and M Cunial based in the Central Tablelands for $8500 through Nutrien Bathurst.
Tipping the scales at 660kg at 16 months, the son of Ayrvale Bartel E7 from Yamba Jacinta M26 was in the top 5pc of above for all his selection indexes. He measured 100 sq cm in the EMA, with fats of 8mm and 7mm on the rump and rib, an IMF of 3.9pc and scrotal circumference of 41 cm.
Large volume buyers were Wantabadgery Pastoral, Wantabadgery, who have been repeat purchasers for the past 10 years. They bought eight bulls for a $4438 average.
The sale was conducted through AuctionsPlus, with agents Nutrien Bathurst.
