It was a full clearance at Moogenilla Angus bull sale yesterday, with the average hitting $9711 and doubling last year's result ($4485 average in 2019).
Overall the 45 bulls offered by Sarah Wrigley and Paul Sinderberry of Moogenilla stud, Condobolin, were sold to a top of $18,000 with many loyal repeat clients featured in the buyers list.
Moogenilla P193 was the $18,000 sale-topper that created spirited bidding among attendees, but it was Consolidated Pastoral Company on AuctionsPlus that made the final bold bid to secure the bull.
By Esslemont Lotto L3 and out of Moogenilla K15, the 24-month-old was backed by an impressive data set that sat him in the top one per cent of the breed for all four selection indexes and eye muscle area (EMA).
He tipped the scales at 890 kilograms with a scrotal circumference of 43 centimetres, and also ranked top five or above for carcase weight, retail beef yield, 400-day and 600-day weights.
Long-term repeat buyers of about 12 years Darren and Melita Turner of Warrawee, Ivanhoe, purchased three bulls, including the $17,000 second top-priced bull Moogenilla P35.
A son of Pathfinder General K7 and out of Moogenilla M165, he weighed 968kg.
The sale was held at the Forbes Central West Livestock Exchange. Kevin Miller, Whitty, Lennon and Co Stud Stock conducted the sale with Luke Whitty taking bids as the auctioneer.
