Some areas of the state can expect severe storms tomorrow ahead of rain at the weekend.

THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued storm warnings for the weekend.

The BoM said this afternoon, severe thunderstorms were possible and widespread rain from Friday.

The main details are:

  • Warm conditions today with a southerly buster moving up the NSW coast
  • Temperatures in the Sydney basin have been in the 30s today with hot and dry westerly winds
  • A gusty southerly change will reach Sydney later this afternoon, dropping temperatures by 5-10 degrees Celsius
  • From late Friday a trough will start to move across NSW, bringing the risk of severe thunderstorms especially to areas in western NSW
  • Severe thunderstorm warnings could be issued at the weekend for some parts of inland NSW
  • The trough will linger in NSW/ACT over the weekend bringing showers to most areas
