RETURNING clients swooped up the majority of the Towalba Merino stud's offering on Friday, when 72 of 80 rams sold to a top of $8000 and averaged $1792.
This was the 40th annual on-property ram sale of the Kopp family at Towalba, Peak Hill, a milestone achievement for the family.
Buying over the phone through Elders wool agent Kevin Webber, established client of 16 years, Ian Shaw, Whitefields Pastoral Company, Galong, bought four rams ( three Merino and one Poll Merino) for a $4125 average including the sale-topper at $8000.
The sale top-price ram was a 21.5 micron autumn 2019 drop March shorn by a sire from the Towalba Orange family while the poll ram at $4500 was growing 21.4 micron wool and sired by Towalba Thumper.
Wayne Rosser and Sue Connolly, Strathalbyn, Peak Hill, paid $5000 second top price among their five purchases averaging $2200. This ram, a poll, was also an autumn '09 drop march shorn and sired by the Malcolm family of Boonoke blood.
Chris Lott, Gooandra Pastoral Company, Gloucester, secured three rams for a $3417 and a top at $4000.
Eight rams were bought by another returning client, David and Hannah Russ, Pigeanbah, Warren, whose draft topped at $2000 and averaged $1500.
Robert Allen of Eurarra Pastoral Company, Brewarrina, bought seven rams paying to $2000 and a $1321 average.
The sale was conducted by Elders Stud Stock, Dubbo, with Paul Jameson the auctioneer.
