Queensland-based organic operation Brook Pastoral continued their strong hold on securing some of NSW's best Hereford genetics when it bought just under half of the Dalkeith bull sale offering recently.
Birdsville-based client Anthony Brook of Brook Proprietors purchased 12 bulls from the online-only auction, which attracted 63 bidders in what was the Martin family's 50th annual sale.
The auction saw 28 bulls on offer with 25 selling to average $4607 at the fall of the hammer and reach a top price of $9000 for Dalkeith Prince P041 to a Nutrien Ag Solutions Coonamble client.
The 29-month-old son of Allendale FCF Barkley H127 was a real carcase bull with estimated breeding values in the top percentiles for growth traits and indexes.
The Nutrien Coonamble branch was active on the top end of the catalogue and averaged $6750 for four bulls.
Brook Pastoral were the bulk buyer and averaged $4125 for their sires that would join a large draft of purchases from Hereford sale in the New England earlier this year.
The operation turns off cattle into the OBE organic beef market.
Bulls were also bound for Merriwa, Coolah, Bombala, Dunedoo, Cassilis, Forbes, Quirindi and Scone.
The majority of registered bidders were from NSW with Victorian, South Australia, Queensland and Tasmanian buyers also showing interest.
The sale was conducted on AuctionsPlus through Elders Mudgee.
