At The Yanko, Jerilderie Ian Cameron and his parents Hugh and Heather penned 90 Merino and Poll Merino rams for auction.
They had a very pleasing result drawing attention from repeat buyers which saw a top price of $5750 paid for a Merino ram and $5250 paid for a Poll Merino ram.
The sale of 89 rams averaged $2412.
Ian Cameron pointed out the focus at The Yanko is on high fleece weight, growth and structural soundness in the rams they are breeding.
The dual-purpose ability of our Merinos is again shown to be important as wool continues to be hit, Mr Cameron noted.
"The rams here have been presented for their high fleece weight with commensurate data and good body weight," he said.
"All rams have received a 15K Genomic Test as well as having a large amount of raw data collected for profit driving traits."
The top priced ram at $5750 was bought by return clients Nauvess Pty Ltd, Longwood, Victoria who were represented bu Nutrien Ag Solutions, Euroa agent David Welsh and sheep classer and stud stock agent for Nutrien Ag Solutions Stephen Chalmers.
Mr Welsh said the ram was chosen for his size and weight of wool.
"He is an upstanding ram, with very white stylish wool which suits our high rainfall country," Mr Welsh said.
"We are getting very good lambing percentages and recently sold wether lambs 10-11 months for export."
The auction was settled by Nutrien Ag Solutions, Finley with Peter Godbolt and Nick Gray (Elders) taking the bids.
