IN the biggest yarding for many years, particularly in the past 10 years Coonamble Associated Agents yarded close to 2000 fat cattle last Friday with the majority of the cattle suited to the feedlotters.
Halcroft and Bennett agent David Thompson said agents, vendors and buyers enjoyed the opportunity to see cattle sales at the locl saleyards back in action after the prolonged drought.
"Now with fresh pasture and crops local graziers are making the most of this wonderful season which has resulted in one of the est sale in years," Mr Thompson said.
Prices were exceptional with the whole sale averaging close to $1500, Mr Thompson said.
Some highlights included a top run of Angus heifers from the Single family, Narritigah, Coonamble, selling for 409 cents a kilogram live and weighing 373kg to realise $1527.
Kia Ora feedlot, Walgett, sold Angus steers at 427c/kg for an average weight of 380kg to make $1642 a head.
The Johnstone family from the Marra also sold Angus steers for 427c/kg with 437 kg weight coming back at $1868/hd.
Glendara Pastoral Company offered a good run of Charolais-cross heifers weighing an average 380kg selling at 405c/kg for realise $1539, and the Keady family, Coonamble, sold a good run of Angus heifers making 410c/kg for average 317kg to tally $1303/hd.
