The fifth annual Niela on-property Merino ram sale at Laggan on Saturday saw a top price of $3500, up $1300 on last year.
While it was a very wet lead up to the sale with the area recording 1050 millimetres for the year, a fine day presented them on sale day.
Tony and Dianne McGaw sold 28 of 32 rams to average $1517, also up $514 on 2019, with a good crowd of repeat and new clients including six first-time buyers in attendance. The rams averaged 18.32 micron with a standard deviation of 2.56 and a coefficent variation of 14.02.
Back to buy the top price again was Clive, Helen and Renee George from Wheeo.
The poll ram, tag 119, was sired by Stockton Henry 16592 with an 18.6 micron, standard deviation of 2.6 and coefficient variation of 14.
Return buyer, John Laverty, Limerick, purchased two rams for $3100 and $3000 including the fourth ram of the sale by Stockton Sherlock boasting 18.1m, 2.1 SD and 11.5 CV.
Return buyer John O'Brien, Crookwell, also secured two rams topping at $3000 and averaging $2000.
Three rams went to Sunshine Partnership, Gunning, averaging $1300 as did Peter and Sharron Hammond, Binda, averaging $1100.
Continued leading volume buyers Steven Hogan and Kellie Jones, Yass, purchased five rams to $1800 averaging $1400. Stud principal Tony McGaw was pleased with how the rams stood up to the very wet year and the ever increasing crowd of purchasers and spectators.
