COWS with calves were the major section among the 400 head offering with two Poll Hereford units topping at $4125 during the Mudgee store cattle sale last Thursday.
These came from Robbie Holdaway, Binnawee, Mudgee, and had calves seven to eight months and were pregnancy-tested-in-calf selling to the Ridge family, Kalua, Geurie, who also paid $3950 a unit for a line of black baldies.

Weaner steers made from $650 to $1590 a head, weaner heifers $300 to $1620, PTIC heifers $1450 to $2050 to average $1642.
Cows with calves sold from $2300 to $4125 to average $3257, while PTIC cows made from $1550 to $1975, averaging $1621.
Wes Rohr, Karhne, Kandos, sold nine first calver Angus cows with calves, two to three months, for $320 to the Goodman family, Gulgong.
Bryden and Maria Perry, Rothesay, Bylong, sold a line of Charolais-cross cows, also first calvers for $3650 a unit.
Julie Howarth, Uralba, Mudgee, sold Angus heifers with the lead pen making $1975 to Hunt and White family, Coolah.
Troy Grimshaw, Huntingdale, Glen Alice, sold 12 Angus steers, eight to nine months, for $1630 a head.
The Moolarben Cattle Company, Square Mile, Moolarben, sold Braford-cross heifers, PTIC to Angus bulls for an autumn calving, at $2125 each to Gayford Thompson, Mudgee, while Tabulan Pty Ltd, Rylstone, gained $1620 a head for Red Angus/Limousin heifers, 12 to 15 months.
