AUCTIONEERS from right across NSW gathered in Sydney this week for the first Australian Livestock and Property Agents Association (ALPA) auctioneers school since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
For any auctioneer, the thrill of taking the bids when a beast reaches a record price never fades.
But there's plenty of skill needed to keep the sale momentum going to get that top price.
Twenty agents across a variety of skill levels worked hard during the two days of lessons to improve their auction skills and take advantage of the wealth of knowledge on offer from numerous industry trainers.
Adjusting to a new way of working during "COVID-19 normal", some of the trainers "plugged in" to the school via video link.
This allowed the auctioneers to have one-on-one coaching with industry experts not able to travel to Sydney.

Held at the impressive William Inglis and Sons facility at Warwick Farm, it was also the selection school for the 2021 ALPA NSW Young Auctioneers Competition.
After much deliberation among the selection committee, the following young agents were chosen to compete at next year's Sydney Royal Show:

- Harry Waters, Elders, Gundagai
