PUNTERS from far and wide flocked to Inverell to kick off the new year at the annual Inverell Cup race meeting.
Racegoers were treated to packed seven-race card and while COVID-19 restrictions may have altered proceedings from year's gone by, spirits across the course were high all day.
The meeting began with a tribute to former Inverell Jockey Club president and life member Bede Thomas in the form of the Bede Thomas Memorial Plate.

Tamworth trainer Sue Grills took out the the memorial plate with her horse Flowrider, which was the well-backed favorite.
However, Moree trainer Peter Sinclair claimed top honours in the day's main event, as Upstart powered home to take out the Inverell Cup.
The win completed a double for the Moree trainer after Solar Panel took out the day's fourth race.
Inverell was not the only region ushering in 2021 with a packed day of racing as punters gathered at Gilgandra and Port Macquarie to celebrate the new year trackside.
Attentions will now turn to meetings at Wyong, Forbes, Ballina and Gilgandra to round out the holiday weekend.
