DEMAND for quality females pushed prices to $3700 for young cows with calves at the Central Tablelands Livestock Exchange near Carcoar on Friday.
Bidding was brisk across the whole yarding with buyers keen to secure their orders for the limited number of just 573 store cattle offered.
Weaner steers sold from $1280 to $1660 a head, while the weaner heifers ranged from $1200 to $1485.
Yearling steers attracted bids from $1400 to $1900, and the same age heifers sold from $1390 to $1705.

Buyers needed at least $2700 to be part of the bidding on the cows with calves and most pens sold from $3000 to a top of $3700.
DJ and LG Radin, The Lagoon, sold two Charolais steers for $1460 followed by a bigger pen of 10 Charolais-cross steers, 177kg, for $1375. The same vendor also sold 19 187kg Charolais-cross heifers for $1300 and 17 crossbred cows with calves for $3200 a unit.
Richard and Catherine Thompson, Gooloogong, sold five 368kg Hereford steers for $1690; PC Jefferson sold six 468kg Angus steers for $1850, and Ed Smith sold 335kg Angus-cross steers for $1600.

Shawn Connolly, Cowra, offered a quality pen of 370kg Angus-cross heifers for $1400; RL and L Derwent, Goulburn, made $1705 for 22 Angus heifers weighing 389kg, while Emily Downs Pty Ltd, Bathurst, sold 12 316kg Angus heifers for $1400.
Watershed Partnership, Young, sold 28 358kg Angus heifers for $1655 and another pen of seven black baldy heifers, 365kg, for $1695.
J Parfett, Newbridge, sold 20 311kg Angus heifers for $1455.
The herd dispersal of the estate of LB Arrow, Bathurst, attracted spirited bidding with 13 Hereford cows with their first black baldy calves selling for $3700 a unit. The dispersal also included 16 Hereford cows with Hereford calves for $3650 and 16 Hereford heifers, 603kg, for $2850 a head.
Kembali Farming Company, Young, sold 17 PTIC Angus cows in top condition and weighing 549kg for $2920.
CM Cosgrove, Charlton, Rockley, sold 13 Santa Gertrudis cows with calves for $2875/unit.
Little Hills Pastoral sold 15 Shorthorn-cross cows with calves for $3200/unit and another eight of the same description for $3050.
