Well-bred and excellently conditioned females from the eastern Riverina and north-east Vicitoria were listed on the regular Auctions Plus Eastern Cattle Sale through Wodonga-based agencies Elders and Paull and Scollard Nutrien.

Values were commensurate with current interest for quality young females according to Phil Gledhill, Elders, Holbrook.

"Prices certainly reflected the strong demand for replacement heifers with producers realising the breeding herd is still in a building phase," he said.

Top price in the special selection was $3380 paid for nine PTIC Glenruben-blood Angus, 22-23 months and joined to Angus bull offered by L.V Corrigan and Co, Woomargama.

Another excellent price was $3350 paid for 12 PTIC Hereford heifers, 28-30 months and joined to low birthweight (LBW) Jade Park- and Witherswood Angus bulls sold on account W.J and M Goldsworthy, Mudgegonga, Victoria.

The line of 34 PTIC Angus/Shorthorn heifers, 20-21 months and joined to Sprys Angus-W Ultimate sold for $2810 on account A.O and M.G Killalea, Holbrook: while 3L Pastoral Co, Thurgoona received $2640 for their offering of seven PTIC Reiland-blood Angus heifers 28-32 months and S and P Grazing, Albury sold 15 PTIC Hazeldean-blood Angus heifers, 28-29 months and joined to Angus bull for $2875.
