One of the nation's fastest growing online livestock auction platform, FarmGate Auctions, is branching into the goat seedstock sales with the first interfaced auction slated for next Friday.
The Going Ahead with Goats catalogue will offer 140 stud billies, commercial billies and commercial nannies and will be held in conjunction with Queensland agent, Stephen Maunder, from LRW Rural Pty Ltd, and interfaced with the multivendor seedstock sale at Longreach, Qld.
FarmGate Auctions national livestock manager Jock Gosse said the online platform was diversifying into goats during a time of incredible growth in the industry with over-the-hook prices around 800c/kg CWT.
"Restockers are looking for better genetics and everyone in the supply chain will benefit from that," he said.
"We are really excited to be working with Steve Maunder and his agency to get this stud goat sale going in Longreach.
"We will be attending the sale and it is certainly exciting times for the goat industry and the country.
"The goat is the animal that has allowed many producers in the pastoral areas to keep paying the bills."
