Short of having the real thing, the Southern Basin Connected Communities have built its own version of Federal Water Minister Keith Pitt.

A LIFE-SIZE paper mache mannequin of federal Water Minister Keith Pitt is on tour in the Riverina.

Frustrated by repeated invitations to Mr Pitt to visit the southern Murray Darling Basin being declined for various reasons, including COVID, the Southern Basin Connected Communities has taken it upon itself to handcraft its own minister.

'COVID Keith, Minister for No Water' as the mannequin has been dubbed has already visited the Barmah Choke, with a view to building a pipeline by-pass around it.

He took the opportunity for a quick dip in the Murray also.

Apparently also on the itinerary are visits to Cohuna, Hay, Menindee, Broken Hill, Pooncairie, Mildura and Tocumwal.
