The return of picnic racing to Bedgerabong last weekend proved to be one of the hottest tickets around with the 1800 allocated tickets sold out the month prior to the meeting.
The day was also a day of firsts for new jockey, Will Stanley who is based in Bathurst. His first race ride became his first winning ride and later in the day aboard the Bryan Dixon, Gilgandra trained Song One he rode his first double which also was his first cup winning ride in the 2021 Western Tree Car Bedgerabong Picnic Cup. In fashions on the field, Sammy Cormie from Coonabarabran and Shayne Carroll, from the North Bourke Bridge Inn were named the best dressed lady and gent.
This year anyone who lives within a 100km radius of Bedgerabong were eligible to enter as locals with the title of best dressed local junior going to Liv Holland from Eugowra.
While Sarah Refalo from "Bangaroo Ridge", Bangaroo and Tommy Jeffs from Canowindra were named the best dressed couple as well as the best dressed local lady and gent.
