BUNGENDORE Poll Hereford breeders Danny and Debbie Hill of Granite Hill Poll Herefords have made it back-to-back supreme exhibit wins at Canberra.
Again taking out the prestigious title with a junior bull, this year it was Granite Hill Questacon who was unstoppable on his quest for success.
A maternal sibling to the 2020 supreme champion, Granite Hill Pinnacle, Questacon was also out of Kanimbla Revona M017. He was sired by Dunoon Jet J172.
Judge Renae Keith of Allenae Angus and Poll Herefords, Roslyn said of the line-up of bulls he combined the most desirable attributes.
"Taking in structure, carcase, presence, and commercial aspect, he is the most complete package," she said.
Owner Danny Hill said last year was the first time they had shown Herefords.
"I should've done it years ago. I've gone to Wodonga each year for 10 years and have a lot of good friends in the breed and I should've been taking bulls along," he said. "Both the bulls, Q004 and (Granite Hill Rocks) R016 are entered for Sydney Show and Wodonga."
Junior cattle also excelled in the females, with Mulloon Rythmic Magic exhibited by the Cantwell family of Mulloon Poll Herefords, Mulloon gaining the grand champion female sash.
Also coming from the Mulloon stall was reserve junior female, Mulloon Royal Rose.
"I couldn't go past the softness and femininity of these junior heifers," Mrs Keith said.
"I admire the capacity and structure of the junior (champion). She has the advantage of a sounder udder over the senior champion."
The senior female section was dominated by Skye Hubbard of Shotgun Livestock, Cobbitty, who took out both senior champion and reserve senior champion with Shotgun Elsa Q004 and Shotgun Calypso N003.
Shotgun also received reserve junior champion bull with Shotgun Quillinaire Q006.
Overall 10 head featured in the breed show.
