A RECORD yarding for Dunedoo saleyards attracted solid competition at its store cattle sale last Friday, where cows with calves topped at $3750 a unit.
Agents Milling Stuart, Dunedoo and PT Lord, Dakin and Associates, Dubbo yarded nearly 2400 head which attracted a good number of repeat buyers out of the Forbes, Tamworth, Singleton and local areas.
Angus Stuart, Milling Stuart, Dunedoo said there was a large crowd on hand.
"There was an excellent yarding of very good quality cattle," he said. "The market was very strong, and by all reports both vendors and purchasers are very happy."

Steers topped at $1840 a head for a very good line of Angus offered on behalf of local vendors Maurice and Virginia Cluff, Bulliroy Creek Pastoral Company. The lead of their Hereford offering sold to $1670.
The Day family, Calindary Properties, Broken Hill, sold a run of Angus weaner steers from $1400 to $1565 while their first-cross Wagyu steer portion met very solid competition, selling for $1670.
The bulk of the Angus weaner steers sold from $1300 to $1550.
A feature line of cows with calves were on offer from Ronald and Judi Bowman, Meruthera, Dunedoo. Their 55 first and second calving Shorthorn cows with six- to eight-month-old calves at foot featuring Royalla and Futurity bloodlines and pregnancy-tested-in-calf to a Shorthorn bull sold from $3700 to $3750.
The balance of the cow with calf offering sold from $2400 to $2850, while the plainer units made from $1800. Cows were in limited supply; however there was a good run of PTIC heifers selling to $2825 for a line of Angus PTIC to Eastern Plains bulls on account of the Cluff family.
A very good run of heifers selling to a top of $1610 for a line of the Cluff family's Angus. The next cut of the Bulliroy Creek heifers made $1440.
The heifer portion of the Day family's first-cross Wagyu draft made $1500.
Most of the heifers sold between $1000 to $1400.
John and Julie Hunter, "Bloomfield", Mendooran, who sold a draft of Angus steers for $1820 as well as a draft of PTIC Charolais heifers which made $2650.
