The Hicks family offered 60 Black and Red Composite bulls, Red Angus bulls and Red Angus females for the autumn Hicks Beef Bull Sale at Annandayle South, Holbrook today.
A feature of the sale was a top price of $20,000 paid by Dimby Composites, Quirindi for ABC Q591, a 20 month-old homozygous black composite and son of GAR Drive.

The Hicks family had recently had commercial success in the Beef Spectacular Feedback Trial being awarded the championship for the pen of five while a second pen came fourth.
Excellent sales of bulls included $14,000 paid by MP and MT Smith, Pilton for ABC Q992, a homozygous Red Composite sired by CDI Rimrock 325Z and they further purchased a Red Angus bull for $13,500.
Gemma Wilkinson, Tumbelton, Wallendbeen was a first-time buyer at Hicks Beef and she was impressed by the offering and purchased a Red Composite bull for $10,000.
The breeder of grass-fed steers for the feedlot said her selection was attractive for his calving ease, low birthweight and above average docility.
"We came to Hicks Beef because Tom [Hicks] is passionate about combining genetics and genetic analysis with structurally sound cattle," Ms Wilkinson said.
To celebrate 25 years of breeding Red Angus, they offered 22 quality females to realize a top price of $12,000 a rising four year old daughter of Hicks Emperor K6 Black, AI'd to Hicks Oracle Q39 with a heifer calf by Hicks Marble Bar N30.
She was bought by Steve Harrington, Ponkeen, Euroa, Victoria.
Speaking after the sale, studmaster Tom Hicks said he was pleased to see the cattle with the higher indexes were sold for the best prices.
"The sale was a great reflection on the confidence in the beef industry but just as important beef producers are supporting the direction we are taking with correlating the data of the stock with their conformation," he said.
The sale was settled by Elders, Holbrook with auctioneers Ross Milne and Brett Shea sharing the rostrum.
