A diverse range of genetics proved attractive to buyers at the 11th annual Charnelle Charolais invitational sale at the Toowoomba Showgrounds on Saturday, resulting in 54 stud lots averaging $5093 and topping at $8500.
A breakdown of the sale saw two of the three bulls sold to average $4750 and top at $6000, 46 of the 54 heifers sold to average $5000 and top at $8000 three times, and six of the seven cows sold to average $5916 and top at $8500.

Good support from studs all over Australia saw 149 semen straws average $83 per straw and top at $600/straw, while 72 embryos sold for a $525 average per embryo to a top of $1600/embryo.
Tania and Nicole Hartwig, Tanic Charolais, Monto, Qld, secured the top priced female, Bauhinia Park Natalie 12 (AI), for $8500.
Offered by Ryan and Rachel Holzwart, Bauhinia Park Charolais, Emerald, Qld, the cow was sired by Sparrows Seminole 927W (P) and had a polled heifer calf at foot by 4 Ways Mario (P) (RF).
Several lots then attracted the second-top price of $8000.
Clare Charolais, Theodore, Qld, placed that bid to secure Bauhinia Park Anastasia 15 (P), who is five months in calf to Minnie-Vale Monarch (P).
Andrew and Shaylee Cooper, on behalf of their daughter's stud CCJ's Charolais, Willowbank, Qld, paid the equal second top female price for the reserve champion heifer of the show, Calmview Festoon Q138E (P).
Sired by Palgrove Moonarch (PK M628E) (P), the heifer was offered by Tony Farrell, Calmview Charolais, NSW.
CCJ also purchased the champion female of the show, Glenlea Confidence 32nd (P) (R/F) - an unjoined led heifer for $7000.
Sale hosts Graham and Katrina Blanch, Charnelle Charolais, Upper Tenthill via Gatton, paid $8000 to purchase Calmview R8E (AI) (ET) (P) - a deep, long soft heifer sired by the New Zealand Silverstream Geddes G102 (P).
Mitchell Lollback, Yuranga Park, Allora, sold four females to average $5000 and topped his draft with $8000 for Yuranga Park Dasher Q14 (AI) (ET) (P). Sired by Silverstream Geddes, the female sold to Byron, Jeremy and Jessica Cruickshank, Piora Charolais, Casino, NSW.
Long-term supporters of the sale, Steven and Karen Fox, Croftby, Boonah, purchased a total of eight live lots to average $3562.
Fairview Cattle Co, Alpha, purchased five live lots to average $4800.
Co-coordinator Graham Blanch, Charnelle Charolais, was very pleased with the overall sale result and hopes everyone gets a drop of rain soon.
"With a very diverse range of genetics in both the live lots and genetic packages, they are very well accepted by the stud breeders and this made it a success," Mr Blanch said.
Andrew Meara, Elders Stud Stock, said it was a good, solid sale with a lot of repeat clients.
"There was a good mix of new buyers and regular buyers which is very encouraging, as well as new vendors and some long-term, very successful vendors which gave it a solid result," he said.
He thanked all buyers for travelling the distance and noted there were buyers from as far away as South Australia buying live lots and Western Australia, purchasing embryo and genetics lots.
