This week The Land featured stories from Abbotsleigh boarders on their lives at home in the country.
The stories featured and seen below are by Jessica Maclean, Narromine and Anna Lamey, Moree and were written as part of the Littlescribe 'My Life Story' program.
RELATED STORIES
The stories tell of life on the farm, from the time they got bogged to cattle work and mud fights and dreams of one day returning to run the family business.
The Littlescribe project allowing the boarders to share country life with city students at Abbotsleigh and across the state.
Abbotsleigh English teacher and deputy headmistress Victoria Rennie said Year 7 students' learning in English focused on the way stories are told and an authentic and meaningful way for the girls to learn about the importance of storytelling was to write their own story.
"The class was highly excited about taking part in the writing project and particularly enjoying the pre-writing and creative activities that led them to their stories," Mrs Rennie said.
"The highlight for most of them was seeing their stories come from just a seed of an idea and grow into something bigger and the ultimate achievement of having their story published.
"The girls' stories are written from the heart - a moment they felt was meaningful."
