A Shorthorn bull who already had calves dropping on the ground grabbed the supreme Shorthorn title at Sydney on Friday afternoon.
Royalla Ventura P158 exhibited by Sue, Neilson and Nicholas Job of Yeoval made his second show appearance to be named the senior and grand champion bull.
The rising-three-year-old son of the successful Royalla Rockstar who is set to have calves in six or seven countries weighed 1080 kilograms with an eye muscle area of 130 square centimetres and fat depths of 11 and seven.
He was named reserve champion at Melbourne in 2019 and was primed and ready for a Sydney appearance last year.
But due to its cancellation the Job family opted to put the bull to work in their stud.
"He has very recently been used in the stud and his first calves were born last week," Nicholas Job said.
"He is by Rockstar, as was the junior champion bull, and Rockstar has bred exceptionally well for us. Our first lot of Rockstars sold last year to average $13,000.
"We couldn't be happier with how Rockstar bred."
While he was the only senior bull exhibited, Ventura proved his worth in the championship classes.
Judge David Smith from Ben Lomond cast his eye over all 14 exhibits and said Ventura was a worthy winner.
"I just really like his structural soundness, smoothness through the front end, muscle pattern and mobility," he said.
Proven performance was on show when his rising nine-year-old mother, Royalla Marcia H257, was named reserve senior champion female.
The grand champion female was only 18 months of age but Blackjack Buddy's Clipper proved to strong for Blackjack Grazing, Tumut.
The female was by $12,000 Outback Spry's Buddy and made her show debut.
"She is in calf to JSF Times Square, a new bull to the country," owner Steve Carter said.
"We just love her depth and capacity. We have disagreements about which one we like most (of the heifers)."
She overcame the senior champion female in seven-and-a-half-year-old Damo Park Melody 4 also from the Job family.
The reserve junior female was Blackjack Buddy's Rosebud R01.
