A bull with the power to bring a lot of good to the industry was named the supreme exhibit of the Brahman breed in Sydney.
For the third time a son of Kenrol Gordian Manso 2690, who was purchased privately and has been a prolific sire for Mogul, took out the junior and grand champion bull and supreme exhibit, this time it was the 17-month-old Mogul Kubota.
The horned red bull weighed 542 kilograms with a 1.03 kilogram average daily gain, six and four fats and 93 square centimetre eye muscle area.
He was out of Mogul Miss SP Carly and claimed his first major win thanks to judge Terry Connor from Timbrel Brahmans at Nine Mile in Queensland.
Mr Connor said structure, muscle and fertility were his key criteria when judging the breed.
"Every time I looked at him, the way that he moves really impressed me along with his length of body and strength of spine," Mr Connor said.
When it came to judging females, Mr Connor outlined they were the backbone of a herd, a bit like a factory.
Kubota overpowered the first show progeny of the $70,000 Muan Rocket 5194, Mogul Miss Mu Dianne, who was the junior and grand champion female.
The 20-month-old was out of Mogul Miss W Dianne.
"This is their third show," Mogul manager Glen Pfeffer said.
"It's the first time Kubota has won and the heifer was reserve at Tenterfield and Glen Innes."
Every major winner was from Mogul stud at Casino except for the reserve junior champion female, Buckaroo Maize from Haley Ellis, Quirindi, who also had the reserve senior champion female, Coliana Rhianna Gyr.
Despite Mogul's major wins, the nerves around COVID-19 will mean they won't exhibit at the coveted Beef 21 in Rockhampton next month.
The stud had placed posters around this year's Sydney showgrounds remembering the late Bruce 'Greenie' Green who was killed during a freak accident at a Tamworth rodeo earlier this year.
Mr Green had spent many years helping to prepare cattle for the stud at the show.
