VEALER steers sold up to $1510 a head among a total yarding of 530 head at the Singleton store cattle sale last Saturday.
Neil Thomas of Thomas Livestock, Branxton, reported the five vealers sold from $1100 to $1510 to average $1264 while some quality Angus heifers PTIC toped at $2490 a head.
Agents penned 252 steers which sold from $450 to $1760, averaging $1456 for the category.
However, heifers were in demand with 199 selling from $610 to a high of $2490 to average $1544.
A small offering of 32 cows averaged $1787 when selling from $880 to $2250.
Roger Fuller agent, Jason Bailey, Singleton, said overall, the sale was very strong resulting on a very firm market.
"There was some quite nice black weaners that sold very firm on what the current market has been," he said.
"There were not a large number of cows with calves, however, they still continued their very strong trend."
Among the heifer mix were some very nice Angus/Brangus PTIC heifers which topped that section selling at $2490 a head.
Mr Bailey said other than the black calves there weren't a large number of cattle of other breeds.
"We have another weaner sale here tomorrow of 450 steers and 100 heifers," Mr Bailey said.
