Littlescribe: Cuddles Blue Shoes by Sarah Lichaa

Littlescribe Stories

Sarah Lichaa, 9, wrote Cuddles Blue Shoes to advocate for koalas displaced in the bushfires.

Sarah Lichaa, 9, wrote 'Cuddles Blue Shoes' to shine a light on bringing koalas back to their natural habitat following the bushfires as part of the Littlescribe program.

As part of the process she connected with Barabara Simms-Keeley "Aunty Barbs", a Bidigal/Gweagal knowledge elder of La Perouse who taught her about Aboriginal culture and traditions.

Sarah also adopted a koala from the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, Balmoral Mini. She was nominated for the Aboriginal Education Council Aboriginal Education Award as part of the 2021 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards NSW/ACT and received letters from NSW environment minister Matt Kean and her local member, Anthony Roberts, Lane Cove MP.
