Sarah Lichaa, 9, wrote 'Cuddles Blue Shoes' to shine a light on bringing koalas back to their natural habitat following the bushfires as part of the Littlescribe program.

As part of the process she connected with Barabara Simms-Keeley "Aunty Barbs", a Bidigal/Gweagal knowledge elder of La Perouse who taught her about Aboriginal culture and traditions.
Sarah also adopted a koala from the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, Balmoral Mini. She was nominated for the Aboriginal Education Council Aboriginal Education Award as part of the 2021 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards NSW/ACT and received letters from NSW environment minister Matt Kean and her local member, Anthony Roberts, Lane Cove MP.
