Dubbo yarded 600 head of store cattle on Friday with steers selling to a top of $1800 for six to eight month old Charolais/Shorthorn calves with Alpine and Terra blood, off grass, produced by Terra Pastoral.
Agent Justin Sanderson from Richardson and Sinclair, said their heifer sisters - same age - topped their portion of the sale at $1660 all going to the Coonamble district through AJF Brien.
Timely rain with more to come and great prospect for winter feed and spring pasture certainly stimulated the buying with a run of younger Droughtmaster cross cows - originally bought out of Queensland as heifers - with first calves at foot that made from $2200 to $3000 for Dwyers Transport, Warren. Females had been put to either Waitara Angus or Ironbark Hereford bulls.
"It certainly was a strong market. There were lots of good, genuine cattle that had been running on good country," said Mr Sanderson.
Terra Pastoral, Terra Shorthorn stud at Warren, sold Shorthorn cows from three to six years old with calves at foot- four to eight weeks old - made $3500 going to the Job family, Ryalla Shorthorn stud, Yeoval.
Brangus heifers pregnancy tested in calf from Cudgewa Cattle company, Warren, made $1730 while Charbray heifers PTIC brought $1810.
Mr Sanderson said the indicus content of those cattle performed well on local country and that their buying price provided room to move on profit - from 20 to 100pc over a four to eight month period.
