Bega Associated agents yarded 1000 good quality cattle last Thursday which sold to another strong market, with Chester and Smith, Bega director Stewart Smith also quoting determined interest from restockers enjoying a good break in the season.
"We had a very good run of young cattle, in excellent condition which sold to very strong local competition," Mr Smith said.
"Bullock fatteners from the Gippsland were also able to satisfy their requirements.
"There was a lot of competition for the young breeders from local and southern tablelands restockers."
Weaner steers sold to $1870, with most in the range $1500 to $1700: while two old steers sold to $2110.
Weaner heifers sold to $1580, with most in the range $1200 to $1400.
Cows with calves sold to $3250.
Sales of weaner steers included 26 nine-month Angus sold on account Dundindi Estate, Bega, for $1680: Flash Jack Limousin stud, Bega, sold ten-month Limousin steers to $1870 and John and Beryl Cooper, Bega, sold eight-month Simmental-cross steers to $1640.
Angus steers, ten months sold on account V Mawhinney, Candelo, to $1685.
Colin and Leanne Griffin, Bega, sold nine 18-month Angus heifers, NSM, for $2050, while B and M Aylisse, Bega, received $3250 for their offering of six Angus cows with calves.
Buyers attended from Leongatha, Wodonga and Orbost in Victoria, Moss Vale and Braidwood along with south coast restockers.
The sale was conducted by Bega based agencies, Chester and Smith, and Pell Rixon.
