Bulls sold to $6500, twice, at Friday's Waroona Murray Grey sale, held on farm near Molong, but it was the females that really stole the show.
All 12 stud females were sold to top at $4600, twice, and to average $3650, while all 50 commercial females were sold to a top of $2250 and averaged $2185, and six bulls sold from 13 offered to average $4833.
Long-time buyer and manager for Jaydee Partnership, Robert McLachlan, from Gumble near Manildra, bought one of the top-priced bulls, Waroona Quintynn Q50, which was described as "a lovely middle-of-the-road bull showing good length, thickness, eye appeal and softess".
Mr Mclachlan has bought Waroona bulls for about 20 years and currently runs about 80 cows, the offspring from which are marketed through the Forbes and Carcoar saleyards.
He said his purchase "was just the pick of the bulls" and he had been pleased with the success he has had with the Waroona bulls through the years.
His purchase was a silver son of Woodburn Larry L9 and bred from a Woodburn France F48 daughter. The bull was offered with figures of +28, +42 and +69 for 200-, 400- and 600-day growth, +2.4 eye muscle area and +0.1 intramuscular fat.
The other bull at $6500 was the grey Waroona Quilo Q38, with the same sire and maternal grandsire, and sold to an online buyer.
Quilo had figures of +30, +44, and +67 for 200-, 400-, and 600-day weight, +1.8 EMA.
The top-priced cows included Waroona Taree N20, also by Woodburn France F48, but out of a Shellgardi Mister Reality daughter, as well as the silver Waroona Calrette M28, again by France F48, but from a Monterey Blitzem daughter.
Both cows were pregnancy-tested-in-calf to Woodburn Larry and both were sold to online buyers.
Second top in the cows at $4100 was Waroona Alice K42, a silver daughter of Monterey Blitzem and from a Monterey Sundowner daughter.
Vendor, Graham Hobbs, Molong, was happy with the sale and pleased with the strength of the females.
While many buyers couldn't attend in person, the online buying support was strong.
The sale was conducted under the Helmsman system by agency Kevin Miller Whitty Lennon, Forbes, in conjunction with AuctionsPlus.
