The Rowley family, Springwaters Angus, Boorowa, conducted their first on-property bull sale on Monday offering 18 yearling sire prospects on AuctionsPlus using the Helmsman system.
There was a total clearance with the sale average of $9,472.
The top price at $15,000 was achieved for Springwaters R1, a son of Millah Murrah Kingdom N306 PV from Springwaters Abigail P8 SV when purchased by Hawk Hill Partnership, Boorowa.
The young bull had the estimated breeding values (EBVs) of +113 600 day weight, +1.5 Scrotal size, +6.9 eye muscle area (EMA) and +0.9 intramuscular fat (IMF).
Dermot McGrath, Elders, Boorowa, purchased the top priced bull on behalf of his clients who are new to buying at Springwaters Angus and said the bull was ideal for their breeding herd.
"He is a very stretchy bull, with good topline and backend and he walks freely," he said.
"He has excellent conformation with a good set of figures."
Mr McGrath added it was an outstanding offering of yearling bulls that have sold to strong competition.
Local buyers were keen to purchase their selection of the draft and included MA and S Corcoran, Boorowa, who bought Springwaters R35, a yearling son of Musgrave 316 Stunner PV for $14,000: Eubindal Pastoral Co., Boorowa, who paid $13,500 for Springwaters R7, a 14-month old son of Millah Murrah Kingdom N306 PV and R Corcoran and A Ewin, Boorowa, bought Springwaters R6 for $12,500.
Other good sales included $11,000 paid for Springwaters R38 by Takajo Pastoral Co., Adelong and $10,500 paid by BA and LK Frost, Bannister when they took home Springwaters R17, a yearling son of LD Capitalist 316 PV out of Millah Murrah Abigail K161 SV.
Volume buyers included Honfar Pty Ltd, Bungendore, who paid $11,500 and $8500 respectively for their selections of the draft Springwaters R2 and Springwaters R14: and Watershed Partnership, Murringo, who put together a draft of four bulls for $6500 average price.
Speaking after the sale and on behalf of his family, Dane Rowley said their first on-property sale exceeded their expectations.
"It was a very pleasing result and gratifying to see such strong local support," Mr Rowley said.
"We started the stud in 2017 with females from Millah Murrah, and have sold bulls privately but this year we thought we would offer them for auction."
