HOSTED online through AuctionsPlus the Dales Angus Bull Sale on Tuesday reached a $13,000 top and $8033 average across 30 bulls that were sold for a full clearance.
It was the first sale the McKinnon family had run, previously selling their bulls privately out of the paddock. They run around 150 stud Angus cows which they are hoping to build to 250 head, and mainly breed bulls for their own purpose, to service their 1000 head commercial Angus operation at Merriwa.
Dales Q57 was the $13,000 high-seller that was knocked down to new buyer Ian Moore of Powerhouse Pastoral Co, Nundle.

The two-year-old son of Brooklana M Reality K58 was a high-growth bull ranking in the top one per cent for mature cow weight, top 5pc or above for 200- and 600-day weights, carcase weight and scrotal size, and top 6pc for 400-day weight.
Weighing 858 kilograms, with a scrotal circumference of 43 centimetres and raw birth weight of 42kg, vendor Elliot McKinnon said he was a complete bull with a good top, length and strength throughout.
Powerhouse Pastoral Co put together a draft of five for a $10,400 average.
Not far behind the sale-topper were two bulls sold for the equal second top price of $12,000. They were both by EF Prime Quarter 5369 that was used to build rib and rump at in the herd, according to Mr McKinnon.
Dales Q19 sold for $12,000 to repeat buyer Dean Woods of Buriwest, for his commercial Angus herd at Walcha. Weighing 838kg, he measured 40cm in the scrotum, had a raw birth weight of 34kg and sat top 10pc for 200- and 400-day weight.
Mr Woods also purchased Dales Q39, and averaged $10,500 across the pair.

Also making $12,000 was Coonabarabran buyer Scott Pickett's purchase in Dales Q22 that tipped the scales at 718kg with a scrotal circumference of 41cm and raw birth weight of 35kg. "He was well-muscled, long, thick and deep - a really complete bull," Mr McKinnon said.
Dales Angus hosted the online sale due to COVID-19 and to get their bulls out there to a bigger field of buyers. "Previously our bulls were only going to local fellows but this way we hope to get our bulls to buyers further afield," he said.
"It was a really good sale and having the Helmsman system helped bidders that lost out on a bull to still be in the running on another. We will do it again next year."
