When opening his inaugural Angus bull sale, Injemira stud principal Marc Greening emphasised he hasn't any intention of moving away from breeding Hereford bulls on his property near Book Book.
"The Angus bulls are additional to the Herefords we breed here," Mr Greening, who is one of Australia's leading whiteface breeders said.
"Today's offering is typical of the style of bull I'm trying to breed and the skin colour doesn't matter.
"Our aim here is to get bulls out into the paddocks and develop relationships with commercial producers."
It was an excellent result for Mr Greening who said he was really happy with the 100pc clearance of 39 bulls for an average price of $10,872.
The top price at $20,000 was paid for the two-year-old son of Baldridge Beast Mode B074, Injemira Beast Mode Q192 when purchased by the partnership of G and C Corkhill, Burradoo, Beresford Angus, Moss Vale and Myers Angus, The Rock.
The attractive sire prospect was noted by Mr Greening in the sale catalogue as being 'nearly faultless from both a phenotype and data perspective'.
The bull was further noted as a specialist heifer bull and at 918kg, he was also pointed out by buyer representative Scott Myers, Myers Angus, The Rock, as being the heaviest bull in the draft.
"That weight has been produced on grass which is the natural performance the buyers are looking at," Mr Myers reiterated when pointing out the attractive qualities of the sire prospect.
"He is the best Beast Mode son I have seen this year and his structural correctness, cleanness up front and depth of body along with his scrotal size of 40cm are what we were looking for.
"He is a true three-dimensional bull with excellent temperament, and he really fits into the whole grassfed stud operations he is going into to.
"He can be joined to all females from heifers to mature cows."
The bull's July 2021 TransTasman Angus Cattle Evaluation estimated breeding values (EBV's) indicated +3.8 Birthweight, +125 600 day weight, +18 Milk, +5.6 EMA and +2.4 IMF.
Volume buyers included Daniel Fisher, Wangaratta, Victoria, who added to his sire battery with six bulls for average price of $13,167 and Mack Pastoral, Uranquinty, who selected a draft of three bulls for $8667 average price.
Other multiple buyers included Evans Pastoral Co., Barratta, who took two home for $13,000 apeice: Possum Point Pastoral, Tooma, who also selected two bulls but for $9000 each and Curralea Pastoral Co., Ladysmith. who took their two bulls for $9000 each.
Individual selections included one at $13,000 bought by DR, J and DA Rowley, Boorowa, and one at $12,000 selected by HG Reynolds and Sons, Mangoplah.
Due to the current social interaction restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19, Mr Greening conducted the sale on-property but through the interaction with AuctionsPlus.
The sale was settled by Nutrien stud stock, Holbrook and was run in conjunction with H Francis and Co, Wagga Wagga.
