A near 100 percent clearance of 127 Poll Merino rams at Culcairn

The annual Eastern Riverina Poll Merino multi-vendor ram sale was well supported by sheep breeders from the local districts when 127 rams were on display for auction.

Studs represented included Simon and Amanda Bahr, Meadow View, Henty; Pitson family, Valley Vista, Culcairn; Cameron, Glenda and Matthew Martin, Old Cobran, Mullengandra and Ruston and Ryan Donovan, Hurlstone Park, Mulwala.

Individual stud sale results:

Meadow View - Offered 50 and sold 47 for top price $7250 and average of $3702.

Valley Vista - Offered 35 and sold 35 for top price $6750 and average of $3107.

Hurlstone Park - Offered 15 and sold 10 to top price $3500 and average of $1600.

Old Cobran - Offered 27 and sold 21 to top of $3750 and average of $1898.

Speaking after the sale, Simon Bahr, Meadow View, Henty, was very excited by the results for all vendors.

"We all had a very good sale and the clearance was amazing," he said.

"The buying strength of the return buyers is certainly encouraging all of us to keep improving the standard of our rams."

The sale was settled by Nutrien, Albury, in association with Elders and the auctioneer was Peter Godbolt, Nutrien stud stock.
